Homemade Waffle Fries

Ingredients
- 3–4 large russet potatoes (best for crispiness)
- 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil (or spray oil for air fryer)
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Optional: pinch of cayenne for spicy fries

How to Cut Waffle Fries (Important Step)
- Use a mandolin slicer with the waffle blade (crinkle-cut blade).
- Slice the potato lengthwise, rotating the potato 90 degrees between each slice.
- This rotation creates the criss-cross waffle pattern.
- Keep slices medium thickness (about ¼ inch) for perfect crispiness.
Instructions

Option 1: Air Fryer (Best & Crispiest)
- Soak sliced potatoes in cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove starch.

Drain, rinse, and pat completely dry.

Toss with oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Air fry at 200°C / 400°F for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway.

Option 2: Deep Frying (Authentic Fast-Food Style)

Soak potatoes 20 minutes, then dry well.
Heat oil to 160°C / 320°F.

First fry (softening fry): cook potatoes 3–4 minutes.

Remove, increase oil to 190°C / 375°F.
Second fry (crisping fry): cook 2–3 minutes until golden.

Option 3: Oven-Baked
- Preheat oven to 220°C / 425°F.
- Place potatoes on a parchment-lined tray.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and browned.
