Smothered chicken is the ultimate comfort food – juicy, golden chicken covered in a creamy onion-mushroom gravy that melts in your mouth. It’s a Southern classic that turns a simple dinner into a cozy family feast.

Ingredients:
- 4 bone-in chicken thighs (or breasts)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (for coating)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 medium onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 cup mushrooms (optional, sliced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 cups chicken bregular on your menu!

Method:
- Season & Dredge – Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Coat chicken well.
- Pan Fry – Heat butter in a skillet. Fry chicken until golden brown (don’t fully cook). Remove and set aside.
- Make the Gravy – In the same pan, sauté onion, mushrooms, and garlic until fragrant. Add 2 tbsp leftover seasoned flour, stir, then slowly whisk in broth and cream. Simmer until thick.
- Smother & Cook – Place chicken back into the gravy, cover, and let it simmer for 25–30 minutes until chicken is fully cooked and tender.
